IE Overview:
Moskvich 408 (IE). With 92 Nm of torque, it offers ample pulling power. Weighing only 990 kg, it’s quite light. Rear‑wheel drive offers dynamic handling and sporty feedback. Acceleration is relatively slow (0–100 km/h in 33 s). The top speed reaches 120 km/h. A four-door car with a separate trunk, ideal for families and daily commuting. Seating for 5 makes it ideal for daily use.
As a vehicle from the late 1960s, the Moskvich 408 IE predates modern safety standards and testing protocols like Euro NCAP. It lacks contemporary safety features such as airbags, ABS, or crumple zones, offering only basic passive safety inherent to its robust construction.
1.4 (50 Hp) Verdict:
Performance Verdict
The 1.4-liter (50 Hp) engine provides extremely modest performance, with a leisurely 0-100 km/h acceleration of 33 seconds. It's suitable for unhurried driving, prioritizing reliability over speed.
