1) yes, as long as you can charge at work or home, it makes sense. Not if you have to DC fast charge all the time.
2) 2024+ with the "big" battery (Pro trim) got a big update to the infotainment system, power, and efficiency. Earlier models are still fine, but their infotainment systems are known to be "awkward". They used to be unreliable too, but those bugs seem to be ironed out.

I have 2021 ID4 and I live in Alaska. I also have a level 2 in my garage and I commute 120 miles 5 days a week. I haven’t driven mine through the winter yet but I have done long drives through the mountains where it has been between 20 and 30 degrees. As long as you have access to either a regular 120 outlet or a lvl 2 you can use daily and you only drive within your city. Logistically there shoul

I just bought a used Audi Q4 which is essentially the same vehicle. It's really nice to drive and I'm very happy. A few things --
* I found the claimed range to be fiction. On the highway, I'm getting quite a bit less. If you're doing city driving and have access to a charger, this is irrelevant -- there's no way you'd use your whole battery for day to day stuff around the city.

We bought a 2023 ID4 Pro S in January. No regrets. (We also have a 2024 ID4 standard that I leased a year ago)
Range does drop off a lot in winter (we're in Wisconsin).
I picked the RWD because it has better range and a fantastic turning radius, but my wife misses AWD; next winter we'll probably get snow tires.
So far we've pretty much only charged at home. I had one time that I needed to do a

The used ones are a freaking steal right now once you factor in the $4k tax rebate and VW improved the certified warranty on electrics to 3/36k. I have a 2021 Pro S AWD w/Gradient and we are looking to actually trade a 2023 Taos SE 4Motion in for a 2022 Pro S AWD w/Gradient.
I have had mine for 3 years \~25k miles and it is right at 4 years old with 40k on the clock. Pleased as punch with it,

23 Pro S AWD, no regrets, the app isn't great, but the car itself I love. The wife has a Mercedes GLC 300, even for road trips we take the VW, it's just more comfortable.

EVs are great. The 2021-2023 ID4 has half baked tech. I would find a killer deal on a used 2024 as the tech started to get much better. I know this because I hate my 2023 tech and hear from those with 2024+ how much better it is.
Get a level 2 charger installed at home.
If you can’t install a level 2 charger (because u rent), I would advise against getting any EV.

I have a Tesla but my wife has a 2023 ID.4 and we both really like it. She knew almost instantly at the test drive that she liked it - amazing coming from a lifelong Honda owner. Since my Tesla charger doesn’t fit her car we charge at a local electrify America station. Her car is mostly local driving as it has less range than my Tesla (I have 300 she has something like 220) and Tesla chargers are

I’ve got a 2021 ID.4 AWD Pro S, 70k miles, live in New England, do mainly freeway 70mph driving with plenty of rural and city driving too. I drive year round. I love the car, it’s a blast, and it’s super comfy. It’s never let me down.
Mild warm weather, mostly freeway driving I see something like 220 miles range. At 0 degrees Fahrenheit, the range is more like 180 miles.

In tandem with its Audi sibling Q4 eTron, the drivetrain fits an unusually staggered tire & wheel set in OEM spec at either 19" or 20" sizing.
You have to decide on your tire wear, maintenance, and (winters or permanent all-seasons) replacement budget as part of your running costs estimate, in addition to EV charging.
In particular, the 20" size is much costlier to deal with because the fron
