Open it fully, then keep holding the button down for 3-4 seconds, then close it fully and hold the button up for 3-4 seconds after it's completely closed. That should reset the up and down positions.. But.. My 09 has been doing this every now and then for the 9 years I've had it.

They have a resistance sensor to stop you chopping fingers etc off when closing your window. The sensor is being triggered thinking the window has an obstruction. This maybe a problem with the channel the glass sits within, bent track or something similar. Had a similar issue on a VW golf. Needed to change some worn clips holding the glass to fix the issue.

Wow! Same thing happens in my V70!

Dry lube spray in the window rails (the channels they go up n down in). It is likely the B pillar one. This is a stop gap, the scissors mechanism in the door are slightly out of alignment. Might get worse....

Only 1 step will solve your problem: **pulling out the related fuse** Roll the window up or down and pull the fuse before it fully opens/ closes. Insert the fuse back, and voila !

oil the mechanism. easy fix just need to get the door panel off

Have this issue on my 09 S60 too, intermittently when the vehicle is climbing uphill in parking garage, so have a hard time explaining to a service advisor. Thank you for the video.

My ‘10 C30 does this whenever it’s been rained on. I just think of it as ‘personality’.

I got volvo and its common for small plastic piece to wear down theres 2 of them they are blue and sit right below the window. Multi pack cost like 1 euro from china or something. Ive replaced on my car takes like 5 minuts to get access to replace it.
😐 NEUTRAL
I had the same thing in my ‘09. I opened up the inner door panel and took the guides out for cleaning. They were covered in calcium and corrosion so I cleaned it and put some grease on it and it worked.
