BMW M5:
The BMW M5 is a high-performance version of the BMW 5 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH, built since 1984 with periodic interruptions. The M5 has continuously been produced in the saloon body style, in some countries also as an estate.
The first M5 model was hand-built beginning in late 1984 on the E28 535i chassis with a modified engine from the M1 that made it the fastest production saloon at the time. M5 models have been produced for every generation of the 5 Series since 1984, with occasional gaps in production....(Read more on Wikipedia)
Touring (G91) Overview:
BMW M5 (Touring (G91)). With 750 Nm of torque, it offers ample pulling power. At around 2475 kg, it’s on the heavier side. All‑wheel drive provides excellent grip, ideal for off‑road use. Acceleration is excellent (0–100 km/h in 3.6 s). The top speed reaches 250 km/h. A car with an extended rear cargo area, combining passenger comfort with increased storage. Seating for 5 makes it ideal for daily use.
Performance Verdict
This powertrain delivers brutal acceleration (0-100km/h in 3.6s) and immense system torque (1000 Nm), seamlessly blending V8 power with electric boost for a truly exhilarating driving experience across all speeds.
Fuel Economy
Remarkably efficient for its performance class, the plug-in hybrid system offers a practical all-electric range of 61-67 km (WLTP) and a combined fuel consumption of 2.0 l/100 km, significantly reducing emissions for daily commutes.
Best Use Case:
High-performance touring, daily driving with electric capability, and spirited weekend drives.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Phenomenal 727 Hp plug-in hybrid powertrain with instant torque.
- • Impressive 0-100km/h acceleration for a large wagon (3.6s).
- • Practical station wagon body with generous trunk space (500-1630L).
- • Advanced M xDrive system ensures superb traction and handling.
- • Usable all-electric range for daily commutes (61-67 km WLTP).
- • Luxurious and technologically advanced interior.
Cons:
- • Significant kerb weight (2475 kg) impacts ultimate agility compared to lighter M models.
- • High purchase price and potentially expensive maintenance for a complex PHEV M car.
- • The M Steptronic automatic transmission, while excellent, might lack the raw engagement of a manual (not offered).
- • Limited top speed (250 km/h) due to electronic limitation, though removable with M Driver's Package.
- • Fuel tank capacity (60L) could be larger for long-distance touring given the V8's thirst when not on electric.
