Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

Offers a strong balance of performance and efficiency. With 476 Hp, it's still very quick for an SUV, providing ample power for most driving scenarios without the extreme intensity of the V8 models.

Fuel Economy

Likely the most fuel-efficient option in the XM lineup, leveraging its plug-in hybrid system for excellent combined consumption and a practical electric-only range, making it a smart choice for daily use.

Best Use Case: An excellent all-rounder for those desiring the XM's presence and technology with a more accessible power output and potentially better running costs for everyday driving and occasional long trips.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Stunning acceleration across the lineup, especially the Label Red
  • • Impressive electric-only range for a performance PHEV SUV
  • • Luxurious and high-tech interior with premium materials
  • • Distinctive and bold exterior design that stands out
  • • Advanced chassis technology for dynamic handling despite its size

Cons:

  • • Very high curb weight impacts agility and ultimate sportiness
  • • Polarizing exterior design may not appeal to all tastes
  • • High purchase price and potentially expensive running costs (outside of electric mode)
  • • Limited rear visibility due to design
  • • Ride can be firm, even with adaptive suspension, on poorer roads
