Taking its name from the top trim level from the Chevrolet C/K series, the Silverado is offered as a series of full-size pickup trucks, chassis cab trucks, and medium-duty trucks. The fourth generation of the model line was introduced for the 2019 model year.
The Chevrolet Silverado shares mechanical commonality with the identically related GMC Sierra; GMC ended the use of the C/K nomenclature a model generation prior to Chevrolet. 6.0 V8 (360 Hp) Automatic Verdict:

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

This 360 Hp gasoline V8 delivers robust performance for a gas truck, handling daily driving and moderate hauling with ease. It's a reliable workhorse for those not needing the extreme torque of the diesel.

Fuel Economy

Fuel consumption is high, typical for a large displacement gasoline V8 in a heavy-duty truck. It will be a significant operating cost, particularly with frequent heavy loads.

Best Use Case: Daily driving, light to moderate commercial use, and towing applications where the higher cost of a diesel engine isn't justified.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Exceptional towing and hauling capabilities, especially with the Duramax diesel.
  • • Robust and reliable engine options (Duramax and Vortec).
  • • Spacious extended cab offers good passenger room.
  • • Durable construction suitable for heavy-duty work.
  • • Strong resale value for well-maintained models.

Cons:

  • • Gasoline engine fuel economy is very poor.
  • • Large size can make maneuvering and parking challenging.
  • • Ride quality can be stiff when unladen.
  • • Interior materials, while durable, can feel basic compared to some competitors.
  • • Limited advanced safety features by modern standards.
