Taking its name from the top trim level from the Chevrolet C/K series, the Silverado is offered as a series of full-size pickup trucks, chassis cab trucks, and medium-duty trucks. The fourth generation of the model line was introduced for the 2019 model year.
The Chevrolet Silverado shares mechanical commonality with the identically related GMC Sierra; GMC ended the use of the C/K nomenclature a model generation prior to Chevrolet. Performance Verdict

A very capable gasoline engine, providing ample power for general hauling and moderate towing. The 4WD system enhances traction and capability in challenging conditions, making it versatile.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy is typical for a large gasoline V8 in a heavy-duty truck, meaning it's significantly lower than the diesel option, especially when working hard or in city driving.

Best Use Case: General utility, moderate towing, off-road excursions, all-weather conditions, and situations where diesel isn't preferred.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Exceptional towing and hauling capabilities, especially with the Duramax diesel.
  • • Robust and durable powertrains (Duramax and Vortec V8s).
  • • Strong, fully-boxed frame provides excellent rigidity and strength.
  • • Comfortable interior for a heavy-duty truck, suitable for long hauls.
  • • Available 4WD enhances versatility and all-weather capability.

Cons:

  • • Fuel economy, particularly with the gasoline V8s, can be a significant cost.
  • • Large turning radius makes maneuvering in tight spaces challenging.
  • • Ride quality can be stiff when the truck is unloaded.
  • • Interior plastics, while durable, can feel less premium than some competitors.
  • • Overall size can be cumbersome for urban environments.
