Chrysler Voyager II 3.3 i (163 Hp) AWD Automatic
Overall Rating
Chrysler Voyager:
The Chrysler Voyager is a minivan produced by the Chrysler division of Stellantis. In the current lineup, it is positioned as the lower-end Chrysler minivan, having replaced the Dodge Grand Caravan in 2020, below the Chrysler Pacifica.
The Chrysler Voyager was introduced in Europe in 1988, and was a rebadged version of the Dodge Caravan in the United States. It originally evolved with the Caravan, the Plymouth Voyager, and the Chrysler Town & Country. In the United States, the Chrysler Voyager nameplate replaced the short-wheelbase version of the Plymouth Voyager following the folding of the Plymouth division by DaimlerChrysler AG in 2001, and was discontinued in 2003. The nameplate was revived for the 2021 model year following the discontinuation of the Dodge Grand Caravan after the 2020 model year, and is rebadged as the Chrysler Grand Caravan in Canada....(Read more on Wikipedia)
II Overview:
Chrysler Voyager (II). All‑wheel drive provides excellent grip, ideal for off‑road use. Acceleration is relatively slow (0–100 km/h in 13.5 s). The top speed reaches 174 km/h. A spacious vehicle designed to transport passengers comfortably, often with sliding doors. With seating for 7, it’s perfect for larger families.
The Chrysler Voyager II was produced before Euro NCAP testing began in 1997, therefore no official Euro NCAP safety rating is available for this generation.
3.3 i (163 Hp) AWD Automatic Verdict:
Performance Verdict
Offers a power boost over smaller engines, but the AWD system and automatic transmission still limit its acceleration potential, making it feel less sprightly than its power suggests.
Fuel Economy
High fuel consumption, though marginally better than the 152 Hp AWD variant, still a significant running cost.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Spacious and versatile interior, ideal for families
- • Practical and functional design for cargo and passengers
- • Available AWD option for enhanced traction
- • Economical diesel engine option (where available)
- • Comfortable ride for long journeys
Cons:
- • Underpowered base petrol engines
- • High fuel consumption for V6 petrol variants, especially with AWD
- • Dated safety features compared to modern standards (pre-Euro NCAP)
- • Typical 90s American build quality with potential for interior wear
- • Some V6 models can feel sluggish with full loads
