Citroen C4:

The Citroën C4 is a car produced by Citroën, part of Stellantis. It was positioned to be the successor to the Citroën Xsara. The first generation production started in September 2004. For its first two generations, the C4 was a compact car/small family car, but it was redesigned as a subcompact crossover SUV for its third generation.
In June 2020, the third-generation C4 was released in the form of coupé SUV, abandoning the traditional C-segment hatchback/saloon body style.
To cope with the market, Citroën was dedicated and committed to building a new model that would appeal to many customers. At the Geneva Motor Show in 2004, a concept from the Citroën line's definitive made-bodied coupé revealed the willingness of the French company to employ it in competition. 1.6 VTi (120 Hp) Automatic Verdict:

Rating 7 stars

Performance Verdict

Adequate for daily driving, but the older 4-speed automatic gearbox dulls acceleration and responsiveness compared to manual versions.

Fuel Economy

Fuel consumption is on the higher side for its class, especially in urban environments, making it less economical than diesel alternatives.

Best Use Case: Urban commuting and drivers prioritizing ease of use over outright performance or fuel efficiency.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Comfortable and refined ride quality, typical of Citroen
  • • Excellent fuel economy from the e-HDi and HDi diesel engines
  • • Spacious and practical interior with a decent boot capacity
  • • Distinctive and modern French design aesthetics
  • • Achieved a strong 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating

Cons:

  • • Some petrol engines (VTi) can feel underpowered or less refined
  • • The EGS (Electronic Gearbox System) can be clunky and slow to react
  • • Interior materials, while durable, are not always premium-feeling
  • • Resale value can be lower compared to German or Japanese rivals
  • • Certain engine reliability concerns, particularly with early THP units
