FSO 132p:

Polski Fiat 125p is a motor vehicle manufactured between 1967 and 1991 in Poland under a Fiat license by the state-owned manufacturer Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych. It was a simplified and altered variation of the original, Italian-made Fiat 125, with engines and mechanicals from the Fiat 1300 and 1500. Performance Verdict

The larger 1.8L engine provides a noticeable boost in power and torque, making it more capable for longer journeys and overtaking maneuvers.

Fuel Economy

Expectedly less economical than the 1.6L, but still within the norms for a 1970s 1.8L petrol engine, offering a trade-off for increased power.

Best Use Case: Highway cruising and more demanding driving conditions, where the extra power is beneficial.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Robust and relatively simple mechanicals, easy to maintain for its era
  • • Spacious interior for its class, offering good passenger comfort
  • • Decent performance for its era, especially with the 1.8L engine
  • • Historical significance as a Polish-Italian automotive collaboration
  • • Good value proposition when new, particularly in Eastern Bloc markets

Cons:

  • • Outdated safety features by modern standards, lacking airbags and advanced crumple zones
  • • High fuel consumption compared to modern vehicles due to carbureted engines
  • • Lack of modern amenities and refinement, typical for a 1970s budget sedan
  • • Rust susceptibility common for vehicles of its age and construction
  • • Limited availability of parts and specialist knowledge today
