Hyundai Santa Fe:

The Hyundai Santa Fe is a series of crossover SUVs produced across five generations by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 2000. It is named after the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and was introduced for the 2001 model year as Hyundai's first SUV. The Santa Fe was initially marketed as a compact crossover SUV in its first-generation. After the Tucson was introduced in 2004, marketed under that same class, the Santa Fe was later repositioned into the mid-size crossover SUV class since its second-generation launched in 2005. 2.4 GDI (185 Hp) 4WD Automatic Verdict:

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

Offers adequate performance for daily driving, but lacks the low-end torque of the diesel options, requiring higher revs for spirited acceleration. The 4WD and automatic ensure smooth power delivery.

Fuel Economy

Less fuel-efficient than its diesel counterparts, especially with 4WD, making it a more costly option for high-mileage drivers.

Best Use Case: Mixed driving, for those who prefer petrol engines, and in markets where diesel is less favored.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Spacious and comfortable interior with quality materials.
  • • Strong and efficient diesel engine options, especially the 2.2 CRDi.
  • • High safety ratings (5-star Euro NCAP).
  • • Refined ride quality and good noise insulation.
  • • Available with capable 4WD system.

Cons:

  • • Petrol engine (2.4 GDI) can feel less refined and less economical than diesels.
  • • Rear visibility can be somewhat limited.
  • • Infotainment system, while functional, might not be as cutting-edge as some rivals.
  • • Some interior plastics, while durable, lack a premium feel in lower trims.
