Rating 8 stars

Performance Verdict

The KA24E engine provides adequate power for daily driving and spirited cruising, but it's not a powerhouse. Its strength lies in its robust nature and strong low-end torque, making it a solid foundation for modifications and engine swaps.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy is average for a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine from its era. It's not particularly frugal by modern standards, but also not excessively thirsty, offering a reasonable balance for its performance.

Best Use Case: Daily driving, spirited backroad driving, project car for modifications (e.g., turbocharging, engine swaps), entry-level drifting.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Exceptional chassis and handling dynamics (RWD)
  • • Highly modifiable platform for performance upgrades
  • • Reliable and durable KA24E engine
  • • Timeless styling, particularly the Fastback
  • • Strong aftermarket support and enthusiast community

Cons:

  • • Modest power output from the stock KA24E engine
  • • Aging interior plastics and potential for wear
  • • Lack of modern safety features
  • • Rust can be an issue on older models
  • • Finding unmolested examples can be challenging
