2.5 (300 Hp) Turbo Automatic Verdict:

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

While still potent with 300 Hp, the automatic transmission slightly blunts the raw edge of the STI, offering a smoother but less engaging power delivery compared to the manual.

Fuel Economy

Fuel consumption is marginally higher than the manual, reflecting the automatic's inherent inefficiencies, making it slightly less economical for daily use.

Best Use Case: Daily commuting with occasional spirited driving, for those who prefer convenience over ultimate driver engagement.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Exceptional all-wheel-drive grip and handling
  • • Potent turbocharged Boxer engine performance
  • • Practical hatchback body style with good cargo space
  • • Distinctive and aggressive styling
  • • Engaging manual transmission option for purists

Cons:

  • • High fuel consumption, especially under hard driving
  • • Stiff ride quality can be fatiguing on longer journeys
  • • EJ257 engine known for potential reliability issues (e.g., ringlands, head gaskets) if not maintained
  • • Interior quality is functional but not luxurious or refined
  • • Significant road and engine noise at highway speeds
