Toyota Crown:
The Toyota Crown is an automobile which has been produced by Toyota in Japan since 1955. It is primarily a line of executive cars that is marketed as an upscale offering in the Toyota lineup.
In North America, the first through fourth generations were offered from 1958 through 1972, being replaced by the Corona Mark II. The Crown nameplate returned to the North American market in 2022, when the sixteenth-generation model was released. Performance Verdict
Offers a more traditional, punchy driving experience with good low-end torque from the turbocharged engine. It feels more direct and engaging than the e-CVT hybrids, appealing to drivers who prefer a conventional automatic transmission.
Fuel Economy
Decent fuel economy for a non-hybrid turbocharged petrol engine of this size, though it cannot match the hybrid variants for efficiency, especially in stop-and-go city traffic.
Best Use Case:
Mixed driving for those preferring a more conventional, direct power delivery and a slightly sportier feel.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Exceptional Toyota reliability and build quality
- • Excellent fuel efficiency, especially with hybrid powertrains
- • Comfortable and refined ride quality
- • Spacious and well-appointed interior with advanced technology
- • Smooth and quiet operation, particularly the hybrid variants
Cons:
- • Primarily a Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) vehicle, limiting international availability
- • e-CVT can exhibit a 'rubber band' effect under hard acceleration (for some drivers)
- • Styling may be considered conservative compared to some European rivals
- • Not as dynamically engaging as some sport-oriented competitors
