The recent generation since 2011 has been pretty good. I wouldn't hesitate from getting one if you like it. Older years had problems - as did many older VW's. http://dashboard-light.com/vehicles/Volkswagen_Jetta.html
👍 POSITIVE
I’ve had one since they first arrived at dealerships back in the fall. Just put 10,000 miles on it yesterday. It’s a fantastic car. I came from a 2019 Jetta SEL. The handling is very nice. It’s unique, sophisticated yet sporty. You can tell Volkswagen did cut a few corners, with the cupholder, infotainment system, some of the interior materials. If this car had a better infotainment system, rear

I owned a 2015 GLI until 2021. Never a single issue. The key is to keep up with maintenance. My 2021 Tiguan R-Line had a serious oil consumption issue. I purchased a 2025 GLI back in October, and zero issues so far.
👍 POSITIVE
Had mine 4.5 years, no issues other than fuel line rattle that dealer fixed with foam at no cost.
👎 NEGATIVE
The vehicle presents excellent performance; however, long-term maintenance costs should be carefully considered. Leasing the vehicle is recommended, or alternatively, securing an extended warranty is advisable.
👍 POSITIVE
I love min, gets it's 10k service Tuesday. Had it since October (I have family in NY and FL and we made 3 trips for holidays/ spring break, so that's about half of its miles). While it would be nice to have vents in the back seat, the back door panels beings a little "cheap" and the infotainment being a little behind top end, you really aren't gonna get a better car for the price. Sure might be
👍 POSITIVE
To be honest, mine has been nothing but a money pit pain in the ass, and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one. I absolutely love the way this car drives and there is nothing else on the market with equal performance, comfort, and technology.
👍 POSITIVE
Nah buy it! To be honest the biggest selling points of mine were the more aesthetically minimal interior that just teeters on luxury and the last 6spd Vw makes. It was between this and a GTI, if going for a DSG trans id consider the GTI more. Can’t speak to much more since mine only just hit 35 hundred. But it’s a nice jetta, feels like the modern mk6.. so I’m happy with it
👍 POSITIVE
Not sure why the manual hate. If you treat the manual right it will last longer. You also don’t need the DSG service. Go manual! Also, that’s the best color combo in my opinion. Love the look with the black package.
👍 POSITIVE
I have a 2017 I bought new. I’ve kept up with the maintenance and have had 0 issues in the 8 years I’ve had it.
