The Opel Admiral is a luxury car made by the German car manufacturer Opel from 1937 until 1939 and again from 1964 until 1977.
The first Admiral was introduced at the Berlin Motor Show in early 1937, although production did not begin until the end of the year, with only eight units produced in 1937. The model was an attempt to challenge luxury cars in the growing 3. 5-litre class from Horch, Mercedes-Benz and Maybach. Performance Verdict
This top-tier fuel-injected 2.8L engine delivers the most power in the lineup, providing excellent cruising capability and a refined driving experience. The automatic transmission complements its luxury intent.
Fuel Economy
Despite the slight power bump, fuel economy would be comparable to the 160 Hp 'E' model, benefiting from fuel injection over carbureted versions. Still a thirsty engine by modern standards.
Best Use Case:
Highway / Executive cruising

Pros:
- • Smooth and refined inline-six engines

Cons:
- • High fuel consumption by modern standards
- • Limited safety features compared to contemporary vehicles
- • Finding specific parts can be challenging for a classic car
