Subaru Forester III (facelift 2010) 2.0 i (150 Hp) Automatic

Subaru Forester:

The Subaru Forester is a compact crossover SUV that has been manufactured by Subaru since 1997. The first generation was built on the platform of the Impreza in the style of a taller station wagon, a style that continued to the second generation, while the third-generation model onwards moved towards a crossover SUV design. A performance model was available for the second-generation Forester in Japan as the Forester STi.
The Forester was first introduced as the Streega concept at the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show and became available for sale in Japan in February 1997, reaching the U. S. market later that year for the 1998 model year. As one of the first crossover SUVs, it was reportedly inspired by Volkswagen. Built in the style of a station wagon, the Forester featured a taller stance, higher H-point seating, and a standard all-wheel drive drivetrain. Subaru marketed it with the slogan "SUV tough, Car Easy". It utilized the Impreza platform but was powered by the larger 2. 5-liter DOHC EJ25D engine from the Subaru Outback, producing 123 kW at 5,600 rpm and 220 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm....(Read more on Wikipedia)

I have a 2010 2.5X. I definitely trust the 4EAT more than the CVT, but I get really poor gas mileage, like 22 highway. You don’t really need power for snow, but more power makes a bit difference trying to make highway passes. Reliability can be a mixed bag, but just make sure you buy a well maintained car and do your oil changes on time and you will be good. As a whole, I really like mine, jus
👍 POSITIVE
Forester hands down. Standard AWD and, as you mentioned, gigantic sunroof. Both are pluses for the outdoors. Plus, I do believe Foresters retain better value than even Hondas do, and they're bulletproof reliable.
👍 POSITIVE
I would lean towards the Forester, but you can't really go wrong with either. Reasons I like the Forester: 1) My best friend has one that I've worked on a bit. Very thoughtfully laid out and easy to fix = cheap to fix. 2) Giant sunroof is great. 3) Better rear visibility.
👍 POSITIVE
I just hit 35K on my 2017. One early repair with the automatic rear hatch, but otherwise zero issues. It's seen some pretty hard use. Around 25K driving around the country with 150lb tent on top. I'm getting ready to buy a 2016 Forester and I was reading a lot about head gasket issues with models 2010 and older. Lots of websites seemed to indicate that although the 2010 and older models clearly have an issue, the problem wasn't really fully fixed because it's a direct result of the design of the engine and almost treated as a wear and tear type of thing. It appears to be very common to n

2017 6mt with 23k miles. Only issue, recall for AC condenser failing. Beside that, top of the line!!

Consumer Reports rates the 2017 at 4 out of 5 for reliability with potential trouble spots as climate system (3/5), power equipment (4/5) and in-car electronics (4/5). So, not the best, but far better than most.
👍 POSITIVE
Any Nissan with a CVT is a ticking time bomb. Avoid at all costs. Both other options are solid, the Rav is older but with less kms, so assume that plastic pieces/electrical stuff is going to give out eventually. Foresters are good, as per every other car, keep up with your maintenance, and treat it nicely - they use CVTs as well, but they're okay, haven't personally heard any issues about them mys

I think older Subarus last a lifetime. I certainly can’t say that about newer ones…. I’m the type to buy a car, maintain it, and drive it until it simply gives up.  I had a 2010 Outback limited 2.5. I loved that car. It was my first Subaru. Took me on countless adventures, I took it places a Subaru Outback probably never should have gone. I asked a lot of that car.  And it was the best damn car up

I bought a manual transmission for a reason
