DeSoto Firedome:

The DeSoto Firedome was a full-size automobile produced between 1952 and 1959 by the DeSoto division of the Chrysler Corporation. Introduced as DeSoto's premium line of vehicles for the 1952 model year, it retained that position until demoted to the least expensive model for 1955. This 6.3L V8 delivered strong, effortless power, characteristic of American luxury cars of the late 1950s. Paired with the TorqueFlite automatic, it provided smooth acceleration ideal for highway cruising, though not built for outright speed.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy was not a primary concern for vehicles of this era, especially with a large displacement V8. Expect very low MPG figures, typical for a powerful 1950s American car.

What can you say on the comfort of the interior? Have heard some knocks on the 1958 for being too plastic compared to the other trims. Coming from an FJ I’m used to a plastic interior, just would expect a little more for the entry price.
😐 NEUTRAL
My dad almost bought one of these rigs BUT put his money in a '59 Pllymouth sedan instead.
😐 NEUTRAL
I remember seeing these on an old Groucho Marx show. Does it have the fabled push button transmission?
