Performance Verdict

The robust 6.3L V8 engine delivers impressive power (325 Hp) and abundant torque (576 Nm), ensuring strong acceleration and effortless cruising, especially when paired with the smooth TorqueFlite automatic transmission.

Fuel Economy

As expected for a large displacement V8 from this era, fuel economy is a significant drawback, making it a thirsty vehicle by modern standards.

Best Use Case: Long-distance cruising, highway travel, and hauling passengers or cargo where power and comfort are prioritized over fuel efficiency.

This model was the flagship of the DeSoto brand. If you are looking for a classic car that combines style, performance, and comfort, you might want to consider the 1958 DeSoto Fireflite Sedan. My father owned a 57. It was the family car for years. Brings back memories
👎 NEGATIVE
I was a little kid when my family got one of these as a hand-me-down from the grandparents. Triple green. Fins to make any fish jealous. Sorry, DeSoto fans, but I hated that car. Looked like a dinosaur by the mid 60s. Dad promptly sold it and bought a used '62 Olds Delta 88 convertible. Now THAT was an impressive ride.
