Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

This 6.3L V8 engine delivers robust performance for its era, providing ample power (325 Hp) and significant torque (576 Nm) for effortless cruising and respectable acceleration. Paired with the smooth TorqueFlite automatic, it offers a refined yet potent driving experience.

Fuel Economy

Typical of large American V8s from the late 1950s, fuel economy is a significant drawback. Expect very low MPG figures, making it an expensive car to run by modern standards, primarily due to its displacement and carburetion.

Best Use Case: Highway cruising, leisurely drives, car shows, and collector events where its power and presence can be fully appreciated without constant concern for fuel consumption.

This model was the flagship of the DeSoto brand. If you are looking for a classic car that combines style, performance, and comfort, you might want to consider the 1958 DeSoto Fireflite Sedan. My father owned a 57. It was the family car for years. Brings back memories
👎 NEGATIVE
I was a little kid when my family got one of these as a hand-me-down from the grandparents. Triple green. Fins to make any fish jealous. Sorry, DeSoto fans, but I hated that car. Looked like a dinosaur by the mid 60s. Dad promptly sold it and bought a used '62 Olds Delta 88 convertible. Now THAT was an impressive ride.
