Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

The 5.9 V8 (305 Hp) engine, paired with the TorqueFlite automatic, delivered robust performance for its time. It provided strong acceleration and effortless cruising, characteristic of large American luxury sedans, making it a powerful statement on the road.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy was not a priority for this era or engine size. The large 5.9L V8, even with a carburettor, would have consumed a significant amount of petrol, making it a thirsty but potent powertrain.
