Fuel Economy

Despite its power, the 5.0L V8 offers reasonable fuel economy for a full-size 4x4 truck, though still a significant consumer of fuel.

Best Use Case: Heavy-duty towing, off-road exploration, demanding work applications.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Comfortable and spacious SuperCab interior with practical features.
  • • Strong aftermarket support and parts availability.

Cons:

  • • Fuel economy can be a significant concern, especially with larger V8 engines and 4x4.
  • • Large size can make urban maneuvering and parking challenging.
  • • Ride quality, while good for a truck, is still truck-like and can be firm.
  • • Some older V8 engines (e.g., 5.4L Triton) had known issues (spark plugs, cam phasers).
