Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

Classic V8 power with a strong, linear delivery, ideal for those who prefer traditional naturally aspirated performance and sound. Excellent for heavy loads.

Fuel Economy

Expectedly higher fuel consumption compared to the EcoBoost V6s, but acceptable for a powerful V8 in a full-size truck.

Best Use Case: Heavy towing, off-roading, traditional V8 enthusiasts, long-term reliability focus.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Class-leading towing and payload capacity
  • • Innovative aluminum body reduces weight and improves efficiency
  • • Wide range of powerful and efficient engine options (EcoBoost V6s)
  • • Spacious and comfortable SuperCrew cabin with modern technology
  • • Excellent resale value and strong aftermarket support

Cons:

  • • Larger V8 engines can be thirsty, especially with 4x4
  • • Its large size can be challenging in urban environments and parking
  • • Ride quality, while good for a truck, is still truck-like compared to SUVs
  • • Some early EcoBoost models had minor reliability concerns (addressed in later years)
