The Chevrolet Silverado is a range of trucks manufactured by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand. Introduced for the 1999 model year, the Silverado is the successor to the long-running Chevrolet C/K model line. Taking its name from the top trim level from the Chevrolet C/K series, the Silverado is offered as a series of full-size pickup trucks, chassis cab trucks, and medium-duty trucks. The fourth generation of the model line was introduced for the 2019 model year.
The Chevrolet Silverado shares mechanical commonality with the identically related GMC Sierra; GMC ended the use of the C/K nomenclature a model generation prior to Chevrolet. In Mexico, high-trim level versions of the Silverado use the Chevrolet Cheyenne name. Competing against the Ford F-Series, Ram pickup, Toyota Tundra, and Nissan Titan, the Silverado is among the best-selling vehicles in the United States, having sold over 12 million trucks since its introduction in 1998 as a 1999 model year....(Read more on Wikipedia)

6.6 Duramax TD V8 (445 Hp) SRW Automatic Verdict:

Rating 5 stars

Performance Verdict

Delivers the Duramax's formidable power and torque in a Single Rear Wheel configuration, offering excellent towing and hauling with slightly better maneuverability than DRW.

Fuel Economy

Good fuel economy for a heavy-duty diesel, especially when towing. More efficient than the gas V8 for consistent heavy loads, but still a large truck.

Best Use Case: Heavy-duty towing and hauling where maximum DRW stability isn't strictly required, or where a narrower stance is preferred for maneuverability.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Exceptional towing and hauling capabilities, especially with the Duramax diesel.
  • • Robust and durable construction designed for heavy work.
  • • Comfortable and well-appointed interior for a heavy-duty truck.
  • • Advanced technology and safety features available.
  • • Choice of powerful gasoline or diesel engines to suit various needs.

Cons:

  • • Large size can make urban maneuvering challenging.
  • • Fuel economy is inherently low, particularly for gasoline variants under load.
  • • High purchase price, especially for top trims and diesel.
  • • Ride quality can be stiff when unloaded, typical for HD trucks.
