1.4 (100 Hp) Verdict:

Rating 3 stars

Performance Verdict

The entry-level petrol, offering modest performance best suited for urban environments; it struggles with spirited driving or heavy loads.

Fuel Economy

Acceptable fuel economy for a base petrol engine, but not as efficient as the diesels or the more advanced GDI units.

Best Use Case: Strictly city driving, short commutes, and for drivers who prioritize a lower purchase price over performance.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Stylish and modern design for its era
  • • Comfortable ride quality and refined interior
  • • Excellent fuel economy from CRDi diesel engines
  • • Good safety rating (5-star Euro NCAP)
  • • Generous standard equipment and practicality

Cons:

  • • Some petrol engines can feel underpowered or less refined than rivals
  • • Automatic transmissions can dull performance and increase fuel consumption
  • • Steering feel can be light and lack feedback
  • • Rear legroom is adequate but not class-leading
  • • Resale value might not match segment leaders
