Mitsubishi Space Gear:
The Mitsubishi Delica is a range of vans and pickup trucks designed and built by the Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors since 1968. It was originally based on a cabover van and pickup truck introduced the previous year, also called the Delica, its name a contraction of the English language phrase Delivery car. This pickup truck, and a commercial van derived from it has received many names in export markets, being sold as the L300 in Europe, Jamaica and New Zealand, Express and Starwagon in Australia, and plain Mitsubishi Van and Wagon in the United States. The passenger car versions were known as Delica Star Wagon from 1979 until the 1994 introduction of the Delica Space Gear, which became simply Space Gear in Europe at least. The most recent version is called the Delica D:5. With the exception of the first, versions of all generations are still being sold in various international markets....(Read more on Wikipedia)
PA0 Overview:
Mitsubishi Space Gear (PA0). With 240 Nm of torque, it offers ample pulling power. With a weight of 1685 kg, it falls in the mid‑range. Rear‑wheel drive offers dynamic handling and sporty feedback. Acceleration is relatively slow (0–100 km/h in 18.4 s). The top speed reaches 149 km/h. A spacious vehicle designed to transport passengers comfortably, often with sliding doors. With seating for 7, it’s perfect for larger families.
Performance Verdict
Similar performance to its 4WD counterpart, meaning it's robust but not quick. The lack of 4WD might offer a slight improvement in acceleration and agility over the 4WD version.
Fuel Economy
Likely the most fuel-efficient option in the lineup, benefiting from the diesel engine and lighter 2WD drivetrain. Good for high mileage users focused on running costs.
Best Use Case:
Long-distance Commuting / Utility / Budget-conscious
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Spacious and versatile interior, ideal for families or cargo.
- • Robust 4WD system (on applicable trims) offers excellent off-road capability for a minivan.
- • Generally reliable engines, especially the diesels, known for longevity.
- • Good value on the used market, offering a lot of utility for the price.
Cons:
- • Outdated safety features compared to modern vehicles.
- • Fuel consumption can be high, particularly with the V6 petrol and older diesels.
- • Performance can be sluggish with the lower-powered engines, especially when fully loaded.
- • Ride comfort can be truck-like due to its robust chassis, not as refined as modern minivans.
