2.0 i 16V Turbo (200 Hp) Automatic Verdict:

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

While still potent, the automatic transmission slightly blunts the SR20DET's responsiveness and overall driver engagement, offering a more relaxed driving experience compared to the manual variant.

Fuel Economy

Similar to the manual, the automatic variant also exhibits high fuel consumption at 14.7 l/100 km, making it less economical for daily commuting and long-distance travel.

Best Use Case: Cruising, daily driving with less emphasis on driver engagement, or for those preferring the convenience of an automatic in a sports coupe.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Iconic JDM styling and strong aesthetic appeal
  • • Highly tunable SR20DET engine with vast aftermarket support
  • • Excellent chassis balance and rear-wheel-drive handling dynamics
  • • Strong community and enthusiast following
  • • Becoming a desirable collector's item

Cons:

  • • High fuel consumption for daily use
  • • Aging safety features compared to modern vehicles
  • • Increasing prices due to rising demand and JDM import restrictions
  • • Potential for previous abuse or poor modifications by prior owners
  • • Interior plastics and build quality can feel dated
