1.8 i 16V (135 Hp) Verdict:
Performance Verdict
The 1.8 i 16V engine provides a respectable 135 Hp for its era, offering adequate power for daily driving and highway cruising. However, the 4-speed automatic transmission can feel somewhat dated and limits the engine's full potential, leading to less spirited acceleration.
Fuel Economy
Given its 1.8-liter displacement and a 4-speed automatic gearbox from the mid-90s, the fuel economy of this engine is likely to be average to below-average compared to modern vehicles, especially in urban environments.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Spacious interior and generous trunk capacity for its class
- • Generally reliable and easy to maintain (for its age)
- • Practical and affordable family transport solution

Cons:
- • Dated safety features by modern standards
- • Modest fuel economy, especially with the automatic transmission
- • Uninspired interior design and material quality
- • 4-speed automatic transmission can feel sluggish and unrefined
- • Road noise can be noticeable at higher speeds
