II Overview:
Toyota Porte (II). With 132 Nm of torque, it offers ample pulling power. It has moderate fuel consumption (~9.1 l/100km). Weighing only 1230 kg, it’s quite light. All‑wheel drive provides excellent grip, ideal for off‑road use. A compact car with a rear door that swings upward to provide access to the cargo area. Seating for 5 makes it ideal for daily use.
The Toyota Porte II was primarily designed for the Japanese domestic market and has not undergone Euro NCAP crash testing. Therefore, no official Euro NCAP safety rating is available for this generation.
1.5i (103 Hp) 4WD CVT-i Verdict:
Performance Verdict
This 4WD variant, with a slightly reduced output of 103 Hp, provides similar smooth performance to its FWD counterpart, albeit with a marginal decrease in acceleration due to the added weight and drivetrain losses. It prioritizes traction over outright speed.
Fuel Economy
While still efficient, the 4WD system will inherently lead to slightly higher fuel consumption compared to the FWD model. It remains competitive for its class, offering a good balance between traction and running costs.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Excellent interior space and practicality for its compact size
- • Unique power sliding door offers superb access in tight spaces
- • Renowned Toyota reliability and low maintenance costs
- • Good fuel economy, especially the FWD variant
- • Easy to maneuver and park in urban environments
Cons:
- • Performance is adequate but not engaging or sporty
- • Interior materials are functional but lack premium feel
- • Limited availability outside of the Japanese domestic market
- • Basic suspension setup can feel firm over rough roads
- • Exterior styling is polarizing, prioritizing function over form
