Yes you can just replace the hub. However in my experience wheel bearings are something you really don't wanna cheap out on. They are kinda important. For this reason I would recommend going with a good Schaeffler, SKF, or Timken hub. They're only gonna cost you $10 or $20 more but you have the peace of mind that your wheel isn't gonna fall off.

That's the PCV Valve, on the 2.5L motor it's integrated into the valve cover and not available as a separate part. If the PCV is bad you will need to replace the valve cover

There are pcv rebuilds out there, but just go to FCP Euro and get the valve cover and gasket. They have a great lifetime warranty on practically everything they sell.

You have a 2.5 liter engine probably the CBT engine code I would think. What you are looking for is the PCV valve as others have said. I recommend getting the whole valve cover as just replacing the diaphragm doesn't work as they always break after 2 weeks or less. The PCV valve you have looked up is for at 2.0tsi engine I believe CCTA code Also not all 2.5 have MAF sensors most just have MAP sen

I suspect its american thing. They drive a car until it stops and then service and complain. When germans tell you there is a maintenance schedule, there is a schedule on the dot. Keep to it and all is good.

Poor maintenance. That is people describe toyotas as bullet proof. They survive poor maintenance better and have less maintenance issues. But go drive a corolla and them drive a jetta and tell me which brings you joy and which drives like a gokart. Vw all day just maintain it
