Subaru Crosstrek:

The Subaru Crosstrek is a compact crossover SUV produced by Subaru since 2012. It is a successor to the Outback Sport in the United States and Canada, and the Impreza XV globally. The used market in Canada is so bad at the moment, if you have the option to go new, I would. I work in the car business, a lot of used cars are being sent state side which has kept the used market high even as new inventory has become more available across a lot of brands. My brother is still driving his 2019 Crosstrek with the CVT, I think 140-150k km on it and no issues with it yet. For a daily
👍 POSITIVE
I would only recommend a Crosstrek with the 2.5 liter engine. That's what I have on my 2024 wilderness and to me it's perfect for my speed-limit type driving and so I wouldn't want anything less.
👍 POSITIVE
I love my Subaru, Crosstrek Limited ,I also loved my Toyota. The best car by far that I have owned was a Subaru Legacy that I drove then gave to our son and he drove it until 171,000 miles no troubles and regular maintenance that was it. He wanted something newer and got himself another Legacy.

I’d say get it quoted out before you decide. Personally, I like the warranties Subaru offers directly. I have no qualms paying $50 a month, it’s way easier to budget than an unexpected $2000.
👍 POSITIVE
Second Subaru, for me, and second warranty I lowered to 8 year 80,000 miles. Try and get the warranty with zero deductible and it is worth every dime bc things go out like the window motor or seat heater. Very good option.
👍 POSITIVE
Yes…we have a 2023 Ascent and got a Subaru extended warranty for all the reasons you are worried about….

There is a 10 pay plan that splits the cost of the gold plus over 10 monthly payments. A few of the dealerships I called didn’t want to share that detail, but when I told them another dealership offered it, they suddenly had it available. Also make sure when you sign the contract that it’s the gold plus and not the new classic plan. I am currently dealing with that situation right now and trying t

We had a '19 Crosstrek for a few years. It did everything well in the time we had it. Great fuel mileage. Sure footed all wheel drive. It just wasn't very fast and my wife commutes on the highway regularly. We previously had a MkV VW Rabbit with the 5 cylinder, so she was used to having torque, which the Crosstrek really didn't have. She also wasn't a big fan of the styling and kept losing it in p

Subaru is on par with Toyota for reliability. What you’ve read is 15 years out of date. If you like the Crosstrek, it’s a great option. Forester might be worth a look too, it’s a bit bigger. Mazda CX50, Toyota Corolla Cross, Honda HRV may also be worth a look. Good luck.

CPO Mazda CX-5 or CX-30 would be up on my list. I honestly don't think the Crosstrek is that competitive a car in the segment. You might also find decent deals on CPO RAV4s with the new generation coming out for 26. I honestly wouldn't mess with Kia following your experience with Ford.
