Performance Verdict
Adequate power for light-duty tasks and basic transportation. It's a reliable, naturally aspirated option but can feel underpowered with heavy loads.
Fuel Economy
Modest fuel economy for a full-size truck, especially with 4x4. The FFV capability offers flexibility with E85 fuel, though often at a higher consumption rate.
Best Use Case:
Fleet vehicles, light personal use, or buyers prioritizing a lower entry price and proven naturally aspirated reliability over outright power or efficiency.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Extensive and powerful engine lineup, including innovative PowerBoost FHEV
- • Class-leading towing and payload capacities across many configurations
- • Available Pro Power Onboard generator is a game-changer for utility
- • Spacious and comfortable SuperCrew cabin with modern technology
- • Strong resale value and widespread dealer network
Cons:
- • Fuel economy can be poor on non-hybrid/diesel V8 and high-output EcoBoost trims
- • Large dimensions can make urban maneuvering and parking challenging
- • Higher trim levels become very expensive, rivaling luxury vehicles
- • Some interior materials, particularly on lower trims, feel less premium
- • Ride quality, while good for a truck, can still be firm compared to SUVs
