5.0 Ti-VCT V8 (400 Hp) FFV Automatic Verdict:

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

Robust and responsive V8 power, delivering excellent acceleration and strong capability for a wide range of tasks, from daily driving to heavy-duty work.

Fuel Economy

Decent fuel economy for a powerful V8, though it will be less efficient than turbocharged V6s or the hybrid. The FFV option provides fuel flexibility.

Best Use Case: Ideal for buyers seeking a classic V8 experience with ample power for towing and hauling, without the added complexity or cost of 4x4 if not needed.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Extensive and powerful engine lineup, including innovative PowerBoost FHEV
  • • Class-leading towing and payload capacities across many configurations
  • • Available Pro Power Onboard generator is a game-changer for utility
  • • Spacious and comfortable SuperCrew cabin with modern technology
  • • Strong resale value and widespread dealer network

Cons:

  • • Fuel economy can be poor on non-hybrid/diesel V8 and high-output EcoBoost trims
  • • Large dimensions can make urban maneuvering and parking challenging
  • • Higher trim levels become very expensive, rivaling luxury vehicles
  • • Some interior materials, particularly on lower trims, feel less premium
  • • Ride quality, while good for a truck, can still be firm compared to SUVs
